Random things

The NS Music Awards last night were awesome! DH got to interview all the winners, plus George Canyon (the host of the show). The best part had to be the final performance in which George and Dave Gunning performed "Long Black Veil" and Fleur Mainville made huge entrance halfway through the song and totally kicked ass on the fiddle. It was her first public performance since her diagnosis. Apparently a portion of the night's ticket sales went to the Flowers for Fleur fund to help her offset the cost of her treatment. Hubby had tears in his eyes and frankly so did I. She got a huge spontaneous standing ovation.

I have yet another dental appointment today. This is number 4 of 5. Today is just a cleaning, thank god! Note to self - go to the dentist more than once in six years. My teeth are fairly tight together in the back and I have a whole bunch of little tiny cavities that needed to be filled. Yuck! Not my favorite way to spend my time. I really like my new dentist though. He is very quick and efficient without being too rough. My DH and kids go to his wife who is also really good. I hope they stay here!

I took the day off exercise yesterday, but I'll fit my walk in before my appt. I'm thinking that I need to add some sort of strength training to my routine as well. My legs are getting a great workout and I am noticing a difference, but my upper body needs lots of work. I can't afford to join a gym at this point, although we have a Nubody's opening in the next town and my school board may be offering a discout rate for it. So I'm wondering what I can do here at home "on the cheap" as they say. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Happy day bloggers!

  1. There are so many things you can do for strength training at home. Do you have any free weights? You can start off with 2lb, 5lb and 10lb---most of them are very affordable.

There are always push ups, sit ups, squats, lunges, running stairs. You can also use soup/pasta sauce cans for bicep curls, tricep kick backs, etc.

    Good luck!!
